Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), the highest-ranking Republican, on Monday accused the media of trying to "brainwash America" after she was asked whether President Donald Trump should honor his pledge to testify under oath.

At the conclusion of an interview on MSNBC, host Hallie Jackson asked McMorris Rodgers if the president should "come in front of Congress and testify under oath, as he said he would do?"

"I think it would be great to have -- if the president is willing to do that, that's great," McMorris Rodgers remarked. "It means that he has nothing to hide. And the fact that he wants to come and set the record straight, perhaps the media would get off it."

"I just feel like the media continues their drumbeat and really trying to brainwash America against some really good people rather than really focusing on the job that we're doing to meet the needs of the American people," she added.
