President Donald Trump this week compared the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey to “water damage” at his real estate properties.
According to The New York Times, the remarks came as Trump was at Camp David speaking to FEMA staff and members of his National Security Council.
“As the extent of the projected devastation became apparent over the weekend during a meeting at Camp David, he shook his head in disbelief and compared the situation to problems he experienced when managing his family’s apartment buildings in New York,” the Times reported.
Trump told one member of his staff: “Water damage is the worst”
“Tough, tough, tough,” he added.
As Trump departed for Texas on Tuesday, some on Twitter wondered whether First Lady Melania Trump was prepared to visit a disaster zone.
