A substitute teacher at a school in Charlotte, North Carolina was caught on video telling a student to "go back where you speak Spanish if you don't want to speak English."

"I'm racist, right," the teacher is heard saying after his initial remarks as other students in the classroom gasped.

“For a teacher to just put a student down like that in school where you’re supposed to feel safe," South Mecklenburg High School student Edwin Alcaron told MyFox8, "it’s just not correct."

After the incident spread among students at the high school, the substitute (who has not yet been identified) was dismissed, and the school's principal notified parents that he would no longer work at South Mecklenburg.
