'This is the modern Republican party': Watch Seth Meyers nail why Trump and Moore are 'cut from the same cloth'

Judge Roy Moore, the Alabama GOP's new nominee for the Senate seat vacated by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, is more like President Donald Trump than the failed candidate the president backed, Late Night's Seth Meyers noted during Wednesday night's episode.

"After Moore won last night, Trump immediately offered his support," Meyers said, "and it makes sense that Trump is now enthusiastically backing Moore because Moore is very much cut from the same cloth as Donald Trump."

He then discussed and Islamophobia as a basis for the comparison.

"He relies just as much on open bigotry as Trump and seems to care just as little about actual policy," he said.

He then played a clip from an interview in which Moore -- who may became a senator after going up against a Democratic challenger in December -- had no idea what the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals act was, who the Dreamers were, or that Trump intended to end the program.

"Can you explain DACA to me?" he joked. "Oh, you DA-can't?"
