Though President Donald Trump and his supporters claim this past weekend's "anthem tantrum" spectacle has nothing to do with race, in private, the president sings a different tune.
A recent New York Times report reveals that Trump and his aides "freely admit that he is engaged in a culture war on behalf of his white, working-class base."
That Trump is a "a New York billionaire waging war against 'politically correct' coastal elites on behalf of his supporters in the South and in the Midwest" did not escape the Times' Maggie Haberman and Glenn Thrush, who wrote the report.
Trump is "determined to win" the war he believes "was foisted upon him by former President Barack Obama and other Democrats," Haberman and Thrush's sources revealed.
In a Tuesday night appearance on CNN, Haberman told host Andersoon Cooper that there is "very little veneer" within Trump's White House about their intent to appeal to the "white working class."
