Las Vegas mass murderer shot up aviation fuel tanks near concert venue while carrying out assault: report
The man who carried out the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history shot two massive aviation fuel tanks near the location of the Route 91 Harvest festival, The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
The bullets “did not penetrate” the tanks, the report notes, meaning festival attendees were spared “from a potentially massive explosion.” One of the Mandalay Bay hotel windows the killer, Stephen Paddock, smashed was in direct view of the tanks. The other was in direct view of the concert.
Paddock carried out the 9-minute assault on attendees, killing 58 and wounding nearly 500. He killed himself as authorities descended on his hotel suite, located on the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay on the Las Vegas strip.
