White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders held a press briefing on Thursday but declined to answer any questions.
On a day in which President Donald Trump threatened to cut off aid to Puerto Rico and signed an executive order undercutting the Affordable Care Act, Sanders turned the microphone over to White House Chief of Staff John Kelly.
“I know you guys have lots of questions and although I enjoy answering them every single day, especially your more serious policy-focused questions, I thought it would be nice since we’re at the White House, we have the option of calling in the Marines,” Sanders told the press corps. “Today, we might calling one of our favorites, Gen. Kelly.”
Sanders noted that she would be “around later” if the members of the press had additional questions.
Kelly began his remarks by insisting, “I don’t think I’m being fired today.”
