Colbert smacks down ‘crème de la creep’ Roy Moore — and says Trump is in ‘total denial’ about accusers
Of all the recent sexual abuse allegations coming out of the entertainment and journalism industries as well as the political sector, Republican Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore is the “crème de la creep,” The Late Show‘s Stephen Colbert said Tuesday night.
“The White House has been coy about endorsing Roy,” he continued, “but today, the president weighed in.”
Playing a clip from President Donald Trump’s Tuesday comments about the Senate candidate where he repeatedly says the phrase “he denies it,” Colbert picked apart the president’s insistence that “you have to listen to [Moore]” for his take on the allegations.
“You have to listen to him and not listen to anyone at the mall, the YMCA or your conscience,” Colbert said in his Trump-imitation voice, referencing the numerous reports claiming Moore was known for trying to pick up teens at the mall when he was in his 30’s. “That little sucker will not stop screaming up here.”
“The press pressed on,” the host noted, asking Trump again if he believed Moore’s denial.
“He gives a total denial,” the president said on the White House’s South Lawn earlier.
“Sir, I don’t think he’s the only one in total denial,” Colbert concluded.
