Scarborough rips GOP voters for enabling sex abusers: 'Weak-minded people blindly follow Trump over their God'

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough asserted on Tuesday that Republican voters who support alleged Republican pedophile Roy Moore for U.S. Senate were "weak-minded people" who are willing to following President Donald Trump over their Christian faith.

On Tuesday's edition of Morning Joe, co-host Willie Geist noted that some Alabama pastors had come to Moore's defense.

"If you are willing to protect the tribe at the cost of a 14-year-old girl, you need to reevaluate yourself and your tribalism," Geist said.

Scarborough agreed, pointing to a recent focus group on CNN in which one respondent said that he would trust Trump over Jesus Christ.

"It's a bizarre group of extraordinarily weak-minded people -- weak, pathetic people -- who will blindly follow Donald Trump over their God," Scarborough remarked. "This personality cult, this is what you see at the beginning of the rise of any autocracy."

"This while not happen here but it's not for the lack of many stupid people who will choose Trump over their God, Trump over their party, Trump over their ideology, Trump over their moral patterns, Trump over everything that their mothers and father taught them," he added. "There are a group of Trump supporters who agree -- like this guy -- 'I don't care what Jesus says, I just care what Donald Trump says.'"
