‘Trump is a stupid man’s version of a President’: Internet pelts Trump for ‘poor man’s Don King’ attack on LaVar Ball
In an early morning Twitter storm Wednesday, President Donald Trump attacked LaVar Ball, the father of a UCLA basketball player arrested in China for shoplifting sunglasses. Ball refused to thank the president in a television appearance with CNN’s Chris Cuomo on Monday, though his son did thank Trump.
The president has become consumed with the idea of “credit” for allegedly convincing Chinese President Xi Jinping to free the players from jail. “IT WAS ME!” Trump demanded in all capital letters. He went on to blast Ball as a “poor man’s Don King without the hair.”
The internet erupted into a frenzy of attacks against Trump. You can see the best below:

Of course @realDonaldTrump is tweeting about Lavar Ball & Don King instead of the troops lost at sea heading to the USS Ronald Reagan. Donald, YOU'RE THE PRESIDENT, DO YOUR FUCKING JOB!

So humble. The most humble. Everyone is talking about how humble he is.

There are children dying on this planet and you are worried about a basketball player’s dad giving you thanks.

I have never seen another human being so pathetically desperate for praise and attention… let alone a “world leader”.
Every day is a new embarrassment.

Wow. Racist much?

You're seriously still talking about this? At 5:25 on a Wednesday morning? When you have your reprehensible comments on the Alabama election to answer for.
Sir, for the good of the country, please resign. If America is to remain great, that is what you should do.
— Rob Mintzes (@robmintzes) November 22, 2017
This may be the least-presidential thing you have tweeted so far…and that is really saying something.
— CheapVeganChick (@CheapVeganChick) November 22, 2017
I think it’s safe to say he’s not going to vote for you at the next election #justsaying

A Federal Employee…a elected official attacking an American private citizen. You need to resign
— Michael Trombley (@RealMTrombley) November 22, 2017
he doesn't owe you a thing. You're the President and he's an American citizen. For once you did your job. Oh and by the way, an American Naval jet crashed with 11 servicemen on board. FYI

You are the president of the United States. There are many topics that need your attention more than this.
▪️50+% Americans in Puerto Rico will spend Thanksgiving without electricity.
▪️What will you do about mass shootings, sir?
▪️Protect the US from more cyber attacks.
— Hispanic Citizen (@US_Latino) November 22, 2017
While I am not a Don King fan and while I think Mr. Ball is a tool, this is a 100% racist thing to say. If you still support this bigot, shame on you.
— BeeCause (@beee_cause) November 22, 2017
And you are the rich man's version of don king, but with shittier hair. God bless Robert Mueller, a real American hero.
