A Florida father was arrested this week and charged with negligence after he allegedly left his 5-year-old son in his car, where the young boy fatally shot himself after finding his father's gun.
The Orlando Sentinel reports that 34-year-old Jamal Daniel Todman left 5-year-old son Judah Todman in his car as he was going to pick up his 3-year-old son from a Neighborhood Kids Academy.
When he returned to the car, Todman said he found Judah slumped over in his seat with blood coming out of his head. Apparently the boy found his father's gun in the glove box, and it accidentally discharged.
Todman drove his son to a nearby hospital, where he eventually died from self-inflicted shooting wounds.
Todman told investigators that he normally locks the glove box in his car, which was why he thought it would be safe to leave his 5-year-old alone in the car. Despite this, however, he still faces charges of negligent storage of a firearm.
