As black voters turned out in record numbers to help Alabama’s Democratic Senate candidate Doug Jones defeat Roy Moore, CNN political commentator and former South Carolina state legislator Bakari Sellers wanted to make sure credit is given where it’s due.
“Let me be explicitly clear for everybody watching around the world,” Sellers declared. “African American voters, particularly women, are carrying the load for the Democratic Party — again.”
“This race will not be lost on the backs of black voters,” the commentator said. “They’re turning out in amazing numbers.”
The Democrats, Sellers continued, needs to “take note” of this well-documented voting trend and “invest earlier in these races.”
