Fox Business anchor fact-checks Trump: GOP tax plan requires ‘individuals to carry water for corporations’
Fox Business anchor Trish Regan fact-checked President Donald Trump’s claim that the Republican tax bill would be a “Christmas present” for America.
“There’s a lot of red flags and I’m bring them up because we need to talk about these things right now, especially when it comes to corporations vs. individuals,” Regan noted.
“I think when you break this down, you have a very small tax break for individuals who don’t make a lot of money,” Fox Business Network senior correspondent Charlie Gasparino explained. “You’re jamming a lot of other people with this bill.”
“I find that so atrocious Charlie, to think that a cop in New York City or a firefighter, percentage-wise is paying more,” Regan noted. “I mean, come on.”
“It’s really bad, because what they’ve done is they’ve basically screwed over Republicans,” Gasparino noted.
“My concern here is it’s going to hurt the individual. And so, effectively, individuals are carrying the water for these corporations — they get that great tax cut on the corporate side, but people are not gonna’ get it on the individual side,” Regan noted. “I just don’t think that’s fair because look at what the president has been promising everyone basically all year.”
President Trump promised a HUGE tax cut for Christmas. This bill is good for CORPORATIONS, but for individuals, this is more like an ugly piece of coal! C’mon, you guys can do better! pic.twitter.com/PRCgHYUleB
