Nicolle Wallace confronts out-of-the-loop Chris Christie: Trump ‘doesn’t listen to you or doesn’t believe you’
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie on "Deadline: White House" with Nicolle Wallace.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie received tough questions from MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace about White House attacks on the FBI and special counsel Robert Mueller.

Wallace introduced Gov. Christie by playing a montage of Fox News personalities lashing out at the federal investigations into President Donald Trump.

"Ooooh, a coup," Wallace said with a chuckle as the video ended. "We have Chris Christie, who will answer the question as to whether or not we are witnessing a coup."

"No," Christie replied.

"We're not?" Wallace double-checked.

"No," Christie replied, again.

"Riddle me this, if you're innocent of collusion, why would you malign or green light attacks that would have the affect of alienating a special counsel that could exonerate you?" Wallace wondered.

"Why doesn't he call you when he wants to know about Bob Mueller, why does he let those nutjobs on TV malign Bob Mueller, who at the end of the day, very well may exonerate him?" Wallace asked.

"Listen, at the end of the day, that doesn't make any sense to me," Christie replied.

"Have you told him that?" Wallace asked.

"I'm not going to talk about what I tell to the president," Christie stonewalled.

"Donald Trump obviously doesn't agree with you, he re-upped his attacks on Mueller on Sunday night on the White House lawn, by saying, 'It's really sad, it's really sad, it's really bad, it's really sad,' it sounds like a Dr. Seuss book, and his attacks on the FBI are ongoing," Wallace reminded.

"He doesn't listen to you or he doesn't believe you or what is he saying?" Wallace asked.
