White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Tuesday defended President Donald Trump's recent Twitter attack on Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) by claiming that it was "not sexist at all."
In a tweet Tuesday morning, Trump responded to Gillibrand's call for president to step down after several women on Tuesday accused him of sexual abuse.
The tweet was quickly condemned by Democratic senators, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), who accused the president of "slut-shaming."
At Tuesday's press briefing, Sanders was asked to explain what Trump meant when he said that Gillibrand "would do anything" for a campaign contribution.
"It's clear that the president is very obvious," Sanders opined. "This is the same sentiment the president has expressed many times before when he has exposed corruption of the entire political system."
"There's no way that this is sexist at all," the press secretary added.
