Comedian Dave Chappelle had strategic interruptions placed throughout the Grammys opener by Kendrick Lamar with his own political commentary.

"I just wanted to remind the audience that the only thing more frightening thing than watching a black man being honest in America is being an honest black man in America," Chapelle said.

"Is this OK?" Chappelle asked. "For CBS? ... This brother's taking an enormous chances. Rumble, young man! Rumble!"

Lamar sang "King's Dead," the latest song from Black Panther: The Album. Each line of the final verse was punctuated by a fake gun shot at hoodie-wearing dancers on stage.

Who am I? Not your father, not your brother

Not your reason, not your future

Not your comfort, not your reverence, not your glory

Not your heaven, not your angel, not your spirit

Not your message, not your freedom

Not your people, not your neighbor

Not your baby, not your equal

Not the title y'all want me under

All hail King Killmonger
