Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) went on "Morning Joe" Monday to warn President Donald Trump that special counsel Robert Mueller is closing in on more members of his campaign and administration.
During an interview on the show, Blumenthal said that he expected to see more arrests and guilty pleas to come soon from Mueller's probe into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
"The special counsel is proceeding meticulously and methodically, and he will interview the president face to face is my prediction," he said. "Remember that we've had two convictions, two indictments. The indictments will result in trials, and those trials will be revelatory of additional facts, as will the addition additional indictments and convictions that you can expect early this year from the special counsel."
Host Joe Scarborough then asked Blumenthal to clarify if he really meant to say we should expect more indictments soon.
"Almost certainly," he said. "In my view, there will be additional convictions -- guilty pleas -- as well as indictments."
Later in the interview, Blumenthal said that, after reading the Senate Judiciary Committee's interview with Donald Trump Jr., he believes that the "really serious, profound and pressing questions" are being raised by the things Trump's eldest son told senators.
"I suspect there's a reason why Steve Bannon said that Donald Trump Jr. will be cracked like an egg," Scarborough observed.
