Former Idaho Republican state Rep. Brandon Hixon was found dead Tuesday morning, the Idaho Stateman reports.
Hixon, 36, abruptly resigned from the legislature in October amidst an investigation into alleged sexual misconduct conducted by the Idaho Attorney General's office.
The Canyon County coroner says the death has been ruled a suicide and an autopsy will not be performed.
After resigning from the legislature, Hixon found himself in legal jeopardy beyond the AG's investigation.
In early December, Hixon was arrested in Ada County on misdemeanor driving under the influence and misdemeanor resisting arrest charges. In late December, Hixon was arrested in Canyon County, again on misdemeanor DUI charges.
“We should support those who are close to us when they are struggling,” House Speaker Scott Bedke said.
