‘It’s just madness!’: CNN’s Jeffrey Toobin lays down the hammer on Trump’s ‘authoritarian' DOJ attack

CNN’s Jeffrey Tobin on Tuesday went of off Donald Trump for once again calling on the Department of Justice to prosecute Hillary Clinton.

Trump made the request on Twitter Tuesday morning while attacking the “Deep State Justice Department” for having thus far ignored the alleged crimes of Clinton and her aide Huma Abedin.

“I hope I don’t sound like the boy who cried wolf, because this is so far outside the principles and the norm of presidential behavior that we are in an outer space realm here,” Toobin told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. “This is what happens in authoritarian countries. The leader uses the criminal justice system to punish his political enemies. That is precisely what is being called for here. It hasn’t happened yet, Huma Abedin hasn’t been prosecuted, Jim Comey hasn’t been prosecuted. As far as I’m aware there’s nothing they could be prosecuted for.”

“The very idea that the president of the United States is calling on his Justice Department to prosecute his political enemies is something that is unprecedented since the Alien and Sedition acts when John Adams was president,” he added.

“It’s just madness,” Toobin declared. “This is not how presidents have ever behaved in all of American history.”
