President Donald Trump on Monday promised that drug prices would come "rocketing down" under new Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar III.
"He's going to get those prescription drug prices way down," Trump promised at Azar's swearing in. "It going to come rocketing down."
As president the big pharma company Lilly USA, Azar was criticized for raising drug prices, including tripling the price of insulin.
Turning to speak to Azar's father, Trump explained that he would only offer "congratulations" on the nomination "if he does a good job."
Azar spoke briefly following Trump and unexpectedly praised the U.S. immigration system.
"Only in America could the grandchild and the great, great grandchild of immigrants from Lebanon, from the Ukraine, from England, from Switzerland get to have [this] opportunity," he said.
