President Donald Trump on Tuesday called for another shutdown of the federal government if Democrats refused to pass new anti-immigration legislation to deal with Latino gangs.
During a roundtable discussion about MS-13 gangs at the White House, participants complained that current laws did not give enough authority over suspected gang members.
"If we don't change the legislation, if we don't get rid of these loopholes, the killers are allowed to come into our country and continue to kill," Trump said. "If we don't change it, let's have a shutdown."
"We'll do a shutdown," he continued. "And it's worth it for our country. I'd love to see a shutdown if we don't get this stuff taken care of."
