An Alabama couple has been convicted of rape and is facing life in prison in an incident involving the man's son, Al.com reports.

The man, Sean Cole, was being visited in Huntsville by his 11-year-old autistic son during Thanksgiving break in 2016. Cole claims to have found his son in a "compromising position" with another boy, and, as the district attorney described it, sought to "straighten him out.'"

Cole enlisted his girlfriend, Khadeijah Moore, to rape, sodomize and abuse the child .

"I was thinking why is my dad doing this to me. Dad said to tell no one. I failed him—I just told you," the boy later told an investigator.

The couple was busted when the child returned home to his mother in Georgia and started asking questions about sex acts. She reported them.

Khadeijah Moore jumped bail and is now a fugitive. Her lawyer, Reta McKannan, said that the boy's father is at fault.

"My client did everything at Sean Cole's direction. That doesn't make it OK. That doesn't make it right," McKannan told AL.com. "As sorry as I am that my client is in this much trouble, I respect that jury for what they had to do."
