President Donald Trump was pilloried on Monday after a report revealed that he had possibly violated the law by ordering golf course tee markers with the presidential seal.

According to a ProPublica investigation, "the Trump Organization has ordered the manufacture of new tee markers for golf courses that are emblazoned with the seal of the President of the United States."

Experts noted that the move may run afoul of U.S. laws that state the seal cannot be used for commercial purposes.

The idea also did not go over well on Twitter, where readers lamented that Trump would never be held accountable for the possible crime.

"This is grift, graft, corruption, unAmerican and embarrassing all at the same time," former Clinton spokesperson Jesse Ferguson wrote.
