A small group of Louisiana Republicans rallied Tuesday outside the State Capitol in support of former President Donald Trump amid rumors that he will be arrested in New York City.
The rally, one of several held across the country, was spurred by a social media post in which Trump claimed that he would be indicted. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is investigating Trump in connection with an alleged hush-money payment made to former pornography actress Stormy Daniels.
As of the time of publication, Trump has not been arrested and there has been no indication from anybody other than Trump that an arrest is imminent.
Approximately 50 Trump supporters showed up to the demonstration, sponsored by the Republican Party of East Baton Rouge Parish, many of them toting Trump flags and wearing “Make America Great Again” ball caps.
Before the rally began, several activists waved signs bearing messages such as “Arrest Biden, not Trump.”

Several speakers decried what they view to be the politicization of the justice system.
“America is in a crisis today as we struggle with the politicalization [sic] of our legal system for partisan purposes,” former state Rep. Woody Jenkins said.
Jenkins’ remarks were followed by a string of conservative activists, including controversial Central pastor Tony Spell.
Jenkins compared Trump’s treatment at the hands of Bragg to Spell’s legal battle to keep his church open during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Spell was arrested in 2020 for violating a stay-at-home order Gov. John Bel Edwards issued.
“When you see that your laws do not protect you against them, but protect them against you, then you may know that your society is doomed,” Spell said.
Several speakers claimed the allegations against Trump were unfounded and that he was being persecuted for fictitious crimes.
“I forgot who it was that said, ‘You show me the man, and I’ll show you the crime,’ and we just cannot let that happen,” Rep. Valarie Hodges, R-Denham Springs, said. “This is America. This is not Nazi Germany.”
“The men that stormed the beaches of Normandy, those that died in Vietnam, Korea, in all the world wars, did not die so that our president and commander-in-chief could go behind bars for erroneous crimes, for fictitious crime,” Spell added.
Some predicted Louisiana would also face a dark future if a Republican governor and ultra conservative lawmakers are not elected. Several conservative candidates for the state legislature also appeared at the rally to appeal to voters.

New Fox accusations suggest network's culture 'hasn't changed that much' since Roger Ailes ouster: reporter

Fox News producer Abby Grossberg threw a monkey wrench into her network's defense of their actions in the $1.6 billion lawsuit brought by Dominion Voting Systems, alleging that lawyers for the network manipulated her into giving misleading testimony in a deposition.
But as New York Times reporter Nick Confessore noted on Tuesday's edition of MSNBC's "Deadline: White House," Grossberg's allegations go even further, alleging a parade of misogynistic behavior behind the scenes at the network. Confessore even compared it to the raunchy college fraternity film "Animal House."
"Let me read some of what she is alleging here," said anchor Ayman Mohyeldin, reading from Confessore's report. "''Last year Grossberg began working as a senior booking producer at Tucker Carlson Tonight. On her first full day, according to the lawsuit, she discovered that the show's Manhattan workspace was decorated with large pictures of Nancy Pelosi wearing a plunging swimsuit. The next day, Justin Wells, Mr. Carlson's top producer, called Grossberg into his office to ask whether [host] Maria Bartiromo was having a sexual relationship with Kevin McCarthy. Mr. Carlson's staff joked about Jews and freely deployed a vulgar term for women, according to the complaint.
"Later that fall, it said, before an appearance on the show by Tudor Dixon, Mr. Carlson's staff held a mock debate about whether they would prefer to have sex with Ms. Dixon or her Democratic opponent, Governor Gretchen Whitmer. After she complained about harassment from two male producers on the show, she was pulled into a meeting with human resources and told she was not performing her duties, according to the complaint.'"

"So, Nick, those are some serious allegations," said Mohyeldin. "We wanted to go through them point by point based on your reporting. Could Fox face separate litigation based on accusations of a toxic workplace culture alone?"
"Well, she has made a variety of claims and seeking different kinds of redress," said Confessore. "One is in New York in federal court. One is in a Delaware in the same court where the Dominion case is playing out, alleging rampant discrimination and retaliation. If you take the complaint at face value, it's an insult to Animal House to compare it to Animal House. It's just rampant misogyny and everyday sexism. Some weird cross between 'Mad Men' and Breitbart or something like that."
"If it's taken at face value, it really shows what Fox has claimed is a new culture in the company in the wake of Bill O'Reilly being canned for sexual harassment and Roger Ailes being pushed out is not really a new network at all; in fact, the culture hasn't maybe changed that much," continued Confessore. "So I think she's introducing that in a very powerful way here."

Mitch McConnell suffered a concussion earlier this month in a serious fall, and the incident has fueled speculation the Senate’s top Republican may retire before completing his six-year term, RadarOnline reports.
McConnell was hospitalized for six days for injuries he suffered in fall at a Washington DC hotel where he was attending a private dinner. The 81-year-old Senate minority leader was discharged from George Washington University Hospital March 13.
The fall occurred at around 9 p.m. March 8 at the Waldorf Astoria on Pennsylvania Avenue.
A source identified as a Washington D.C. insider told RadarOnline that McConnell may retire before his term runs out in 2027.

“Mitch has been a lion of the Senate so long that it’s hard to imagine him not being there,” the source said.
“But he’s 81 years old, and this isn’t the first time that he’s fallen. The talk is he may consider stepping down long before his current six-year term expires in 2027!”
Former President Donald Trump spoke disparagingly of McConnell in the aftermath of his fall.
“We do have to do something about Mitch McConnell,” Trump said, according to the report. “He’s a disaster. He gets his 10 guys and they give Biden whatever they want. There’s something going on. It doesn’t make sense.
“Nobody can understand it,” Trump said. “We gotta get him the h--- out. He’s a problem, big problem. In the meantime, I hope he’s feeling well, but he’s a big problem.”
A McConnell spokesperson on the day of his hospital release said the Senate minority leader’s recovery appeared to be going well.”
"Leader McConnell’s concussion recovery is proceeding well and the Leader was discharged from the hospital today,” the spokesperson said.
“At the advice of his physician, the next step will be a period of physical therapy at an inpatient rehabilitation facility before he returns home.”
