New video shows a handcuffed, hooded arrestee being punched in the head by a California correctional officer.


The silent 35-second video was released by the San Joaquin County District Attorney's office, and first reported by Fresno's YouCentralValley.com.

The still unidentified victim was arrested for public intoxication and sat handcuffed and hooded on the floor when a correctional officer punched him on the side of the head. The man falls over onto his side.

Two police officers who witnessed the attack in full view of security officers don't stop the other officer but did report the incident to a supervisor. The attacking officer was charged with a misdemeanor count of assault by a public officer and went onto administrative leave.
