The media have got their hands on the former FBI director James Comey memos that were released to Congress on Thursday.
The memos detail conversations between Comey and President Donald Trump about former national security advisor Michael Flynn. While the media are having a frenzy over the new information revealed, Jake Maccoby, former Chief Speechwriter, wants everyone to take a “pause.”
In an interview with Fox News, Maccoby said it was “unclear,” if any of the information was classified or not.
“If you look a little further down in that story and read what the author of that story said on Twitter, it is clear there are two memos that the author was talking about. One was unclassified at the time that Director Comey released it, and one was classified and retracted,” Maccoby said. “So it’s not totally clear whether any of the information that got to the professor was classified at the time.”
He also said people should be “careful” about the headlines circulating.
“I think we should take a pause on this and not jump, but be very careful about the reports we are hearing,” he said.
