Nikki Haley ridiculed for math struggles in July 4th attack on Joe Biden: 'And the GOP is banning math books'
July 04, 2022
Math is hard. Former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC), who graduated with an accounting degree from Clemson University, got confused while trying to attack President Joe Biden.
The Republican politician showed a list that attempted to blame Biden for inflation, which is actually a problem that is happening around the world. It listed several items used in a typical barbecue like hotdogs, soda, condiments, ice cream, bread and watermelon.
The graphic then added up the percentages that have increased due to inflation, declaring that all of those items together mean families are paying 67 percent more for items.
The problem, however, is that isn't how inflation works or how percentages work. For example, if someone is shopping and finds a blouse for 30 percent off and a pair of shoes for 10 percent off, it doesn't mean that the full price is 40 percent off.
Haley has since deleted the tweet, but the ridicule persists from those who have posted screen captures. See the comments below:
“@NikkiHaley Oh, @NikkiHaley, this pains me deeply as a former math teacher. I expect that people striving for leadership positions should be able to handle the basics. Item A cost $6 then increased 10%. Item B was $4 then increased 25 %. Old total $10. New total $11.60. Total increase: 16%”— Mark Sefton (@Mark Sefton) 1656856909

“It’s adorable that Nikki Haley thinks she still has a chance.
But considering this is how she does math, maybe she truly believes.
But just to be clear:
It’s not you Nikki.
It will never be you.”— Steve Marmel 💉💉💉💉 (@Steve Marmel 💉💉💉💉) 1656961311

WNBA player Brittney Griner penned a letter to President Joe Biden from her Russian jail cell begging for help.
Griner was arrested as she was leaving Russia when authorities said they found an empty vape cartridge they said previously held cannabis oil in it.
"As I sit here in a Russian prison, alone with my thoughts and without the protection of my wife, family, friends, Olympic jersey, or any accomplishments, I'm terrified I might be here forever," she writes.
"On the 4th of July, our family normally honors the services of those who fought for our freedom, including my father who is a Vietnam War Veteran. It hurts thinking about how I usually celebrate this day because freedom means something completely different to me this year," her letter continued.
She also explained that she isn't the only one caught in the Russian prisons, as many Americans are being held by Russia. She hopes it isn't just her that can be helped but all captured and imprisoned by Russia.
"I realize you are dealing with so much, but please don't forget about me and the other American Detainees. Please do all you can to bring us home. I voted for the first time in 2020 and I voted for you. I believe in you. I still have so much good to do with my freedom that you can help restore. I miss my wife! I miss my family! I miss my teammates! It kills me to know they are suffering so much right now. I am grateful for whatever you can do at this moment to get me home."
Her wife, Cherelle Griner told CNN that she knows the Biden White House is working in good faith to help the Griner family and get Brittney home. She still feels like they're not doing enough, however.

Alex Jones July 4th message appears to take the film 'Independence Day' as a documentary: 'Cyborg slaves of Satan'
July 04, 2022
A decades-old tradition for the July 4th holiday is watching the film "Independence Day," where Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum help save the world against an alien invasion across the globe. The powerful speech from Bill Pullman proclaims the Earth was joining together as one to fight against the monstrous UFOs that had already blown up the White House.
"We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore," said Pullman as the president. "We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today is the 4th of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom, not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution — but from annihilation. We're fighting for our right to live, to exist. And should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice: We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today, we celebrate our Independence Day!"
But in his own Independence Day speech, fringe firebrand Alex Jones appeared to take the film as a documentary.
"I declare a Declaration of Independence against the alien force," Jones explained. According to him, the aliens are "attempting to exterminate the majority of us, and force the minority to merge with AI computers and become cyborg slaves of Satan."
It's unclear where Jones got this information as it hasn't appeared on the QAnon message boards yet nor has anyone posted photos online of UFOs or alien invasions.
An actual documentary done by CNN on Alex Jones cited some of those he grew up with. One of his childhood friends recalled Jones being obsessed with Satan, and at times, he claimed, seemed like he was possessed.
"He would talk in tongues a lot and get into these trances," said Bo Durham, who grew up with Jones outside of Dallas, Texas. Jones was later forced to move from the city after he nearly killed another student, the documentary said.
Football coach and teacher Randy Talley described unusual actions of Jones as a desperate need for attention.
"I don't believe in witchcraft or hocus pocus or anything like that. But he could turn his tongue black and mouth black and he would stick his tongue out and shake his head as though he were possessed," Talley said.
