George Zimmerman charged with stalking a private investigator in Florida: court records
George Zimmerman (screen grab)

George Zimmerman, the man who gained infamy in 2012 for the fatal shooting of unarmed black teen Trayvon Martin, has been charged with allegedly stalking a private investigator — a misdemeanor in the state of Florida.

In the years since he killed Martin and was subsequently acquitted of murder charges, Zimmerman has intermittently made headlines for his brash behavior and run-ins with law enforcement.

In early 2015, Zimmerman was arrested under suspicion of domestic assault after allegedly throwing a wine bottle at his then-girlfriend's head, though charges were never filed after the woman recanted. He's tried several times to sell the gun he used to kill Martin, and was in 2016 punched in the face by a restaurant patron who overheard him bragging about shooting the 17-year-old.
