The investigation into Donald Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen—for potentially violating campaign finance laws by paying women off to silence them about the president's alleged affairs—has led officials to the surprising destination of a pot farm in Nevada, the Wall Street Journal reports.
According to documents obtained by the Journal, city officials in Henderson, Nevada probed a licensed marijuana grower named Semyon “Sam” Shtayner about his links to Cohen.
Shtayner informed them that Cohen had no stake in the marijuana business but had helped fund Shtayner's investment in taxi medallions, which cabbies must buy to operate a taxi.
According to the Real Deal, much of Cohen's wealth is tied up in taxi medallions, whose value has dropped since the rise of Uber and Lyft.
