MSNBC law expert says Cohen partner lucked out: 'Taxi king got the deal of the century'

On MSNBC's Deadline White House, panelists talked about Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen's never-ending pile-up of problems.

On Tuesday, the New York Times reported that Evegny "Gene" Freidman—a business associate of Cohen's—has agreed to cooperate with authorities in exchange for a plea deal.

The panelists wondered what Freidman—aka Taxi King—has on Cohen, given that he faced twenty years in prison for financial crimes and walked away with no jail time.

"Mr. Friedman is getting the deal of the century," former federal prosecutor and Georgetown law professor Paul Butler said. "He stole $5 million from New York taxpayers. He was looking at 20 years in prison. Under this agreement, he doesn't do a day in jail."

"What does he have on Cohen?" Nicole Wallace wondered.
