Naked Trump statue goes for $28,000 at auction to paranormal investigator

A naked statue of Donald Trump, complete with a distended belly and jowly sneer, is to go on display at a Haunted Museum after a paranormal investigator bought it at auction.

Julien’s Auctions announced Wednesday it sold the artwork — believed to be the last of the controversial statues not vandalized or destroyed — for $28,000 (23,000 euros) at its biannual auction in Los Angeles.

The infamous statue by a West Coast anarchist collective is one of a series depicting the 45th president in the nude, but without testicles.

In August 2016 — during Trump’s then improbable bid for the White House — the statues appeared in public spaces in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Seattle and Cleveland, garnering international attention.

The four other naked Trumps — titled “The Emperor Has No Balls” were confiscated or destroyed. In one cheeky response, New York officials pointed to regulations banning “any unpermitted erection in city parks, no matter how small.”

The sole surviving copy was rescued by La Luz de Jesus Gallery on Hollywood Boulevard before it could be taken and melted down.

Buyer Zak Bagans — a paranormal investigator and American television personality — intends to put the fleshy Trump on show at his Haunted Museum in Las Vegas, according to a statement from Julien’s.

This story originally appeared at Salon.

The strange circular objects in question have been unofficially dubbed "Odd Radio Circles" (ORCs); three of them were discovered in a recent data accumulated during a preliminary survey by the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder, a radio telescope array in Western Australia. A fourth Odd Radio Circle was discovered when researchers sifted through old data from 2013.

Bill Barr quietly pulls off a shake-up in a federal prosecutor’s office — but why?

Published

Attorney General Bill Barr’s attempt last month to push U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman out of his position at the Southern District of New York blew up in his face. While Berman was ousted, Barr didn’t get the replacement he wanted, and House Democrats are now investigating.

But last Friday night, Barr successfully pulled off a similar maneuver in the Eastern District of New York. Richard Donoghue no longer leads that office, as he has taken the position of principal associate deputy attorney general at Main Justice. Seth DuCharme, who had been principal associate deputy attorney general and worked under Barr, will now serve as the acting U.S. attorney for EDNY.
