Parkland shooting survivor Emma González on Thursday argued that military-style assault weapons should be outlawed for personal use and people who want to shoot them should "go serve your f*cking country."

At an Education Week forum, David Hogg of Parkland asserted that gun proponents did not want to solve the problem of shootings in Chicago because they want to point to it and say, "Look, gun control doesn't work."

"And the reason it doesn't work is that it's not at a federal level," Hogg explained. "Places like Chicago get their guns from different states."

González argued that part of the solution to mass shootings nationwide is to outlaw some types of guns.

"It's just cheaper to take away the guns that aren't imperative to living in America," she insisted. "You don't need an AR-15 to protect yourself in bed from a robber at night. You don't need an AR-15 to have fun at a shooting range."

"Go join the Army if you want to have fun shooting off a weapon," González added. "And serve your fucking country. Excuse my language."
