“Full Frontal” host Samantha Bee on Wednesday took on Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the press corps after journalists rushed to the defense of the White House press secretary over comedian Michelle Wolf’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner speech.
Bee referenced a tweet by New York Times White House reporter Maggie Haberman, who commended Sanders for “[absorbing] intense criticism of her physical appearance, her job performance, and so forth” during Wolf’s address. Bee joked Haberman had implied “that it’s un-feminist to reference that Sarah Sanders has eyes.”
She also rolled footage of NBC’s Andrea Mitchell and MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski, who likewise launched defenses of Huckabee Sanders following the dinner.
“Oh, Mika very clever to say we can’t make fun of women’s appearances on the same day you wore that hideous goddamn scarf,” Bee said. “It is taunting me.”
“Anyway, while we wait for Republicans to appoint a special counsel to investigate Michelle Wolf, let’s learn more about the other star of the evening: Sarah Huckabee Sanders,” the host continued.
“Sarah Huckabee Sanders is a f*cking liar—good night, everyone!” Bee said, walking offstage as the crowd cheered.
“Look. calling Sanders a liar isn’t an insult, it’s her job description,” Bee later added. “Feminism doesn’t mean you can never make jokes about another woman, ever. If it did, then I couldn’t say that Mika clearly stole her scarf off of Steven Tyler’s microphone stand.”
Bee went on to call Sanders “amazing,” noting “when a man had her job, he literally ran for the bushes.”
“But if the press thinks being called a liar is a huge insult, maybe they should be mad at Sarah herself, since she calls them liars constantly,” Bee offered.
“Look, I’m not saying Sarah Sanders doesn’t deserve the protection of feminism, she does—though she’s not a feminist, which you can tell from the way she throws other women to the wolves on her boss’ behalf,” Bee said.
Bee called Huckabee Sanders “smart, savvy,” and said she “has an eerie ability to make towering falsehoods unmatchably dull.”
“She’s like a public relations Dementor. sucking the energy out of the White House press until they can’t really fight back, turning them into tragic journalistic husks called Maggie Habermans,” Bee joked. “Seriously, the press, why are you defending this lady? She is not your friend.”
Bee argued “Sanders is dangerous because she’s such a good soldier in the Trump army,” who defends “the worst f*cking stuff imaginable.”
“So, I salute you, Sarah Huckabee Sanders,” Bee insisted. “You’ve outlasted every man who’s had your job and almost any other job in the Trump White House to become one of the most powerful women in the nation. You are a hell of a role model for little girls everywhere who are smart and hardworking and completely evil.”
‘America is running away like rats’: Watch angry Kurds blame US troops for dead babies as they withdraw
The Associated Press obtained video of Kurds pelting American military vehicles with fruit as they withdrew from Syria.
The video was first captured by a Kurdish news agency, the AP said in a report on Monday.
“Like rats, America is running away,” one man shouted in Arabic. Another shouted obscenities and talked of babies in Kurdish-held Syria who had died in the Turkish offensive.
The scene encapsulated the Kurds’ feelings of betrayal and added a new indignity to a US withdrawal that has been rushed and involved several close brushes with Turkish-backed forces.

White House urged diplomats to stay quiet about withheld aid to Ukraine: ‘Nothing to see here’
As Democrats proceed with impeachment, there are explosive new revelations almost daily related to President Donald Trump's dealings with Ukraine.

“Keep moving, people, nothing to see here,” Brad Freden, the State Department’s acting deputy assistant secretary of Europe and Eurasia, said in an email.
