After a Georgia GOP candidate made waves with a now-banned ad featuring his "deportation bus," he decided to take it on the road — only to cower inside an adjacent RV as protesters swarmed the anti-immigration vehicle.

As part of his "deportation bus tour," gubernatorial candidate Michael Williams decided to drive his controversial bus to Clarkston, Georgia, home of a community center that provides services to refugees and other immigrants. WSB-TV's Richard Elliot noted on Twitter that although some of Williams' supporters showed up to greet the bus, they were "outnumbered" by protesters.

"A large crowd of counter demonstrators has surrounded Michael Williams' Deportation Bus tour," Elliot wrote in a post accompanied by a photo of pro-immigration protesters. "Williams has not come out of his RV. His staff is shuttling reporters inside."

"You can lie all you want, repeat your talking points all you want," one protester told a Williams supporter in a video captured by Deirdra Dukes, a reporter with Atlanta's Fox 5 news station. "We're here because of racism."
