New reporting Friday night revealed the extensive reasons the FBI had to believe that Russian intelligence agencies might have infiltrated the Trump campaign, and MSNBC's Rachel Maddow looked downright astonished as she explained the voluminous connections.

She starts by discussing the fact that, according to a New York Times report, former national security adviser Michael Flynn first came on the government's radar as a possible intelligence asset in 2014, when two individuals noticed that he seemed to have an overly friendly relationship with a Russian woman at a seminar.

"Over the course of the Mueller investigation, we've also got Rick Gates and Paul Manaforts, the chairman and deputy chairman of the Trump campaign, both also in contact with somebody who the FBI believed to be a Russian intelligence asset," she said. "We've got Carter Page, who was believed to be involved with Russian intelligence and potentially reporting home to Moscow about his contacts with the FBI in this country. And we've got George Papadopoulos, also involved in the Trump campaign, also appearing to be in contact with Russian intelligence..."

That's a lot — for one campaign," she said. "Have you ever heard in any other presidential campaign in ever of even a single person being known by the FBI to have ties to Russian intelligence? Ever, even one?"
