Annapolis Capital-Gazette reporter details horrific scene hiding under his desk -- and hearing 'the gunman reload'

Reporter Phil Davis, who covers the police and courtroom beat for the Annapolis Capital-Gazette revealed that he was safe late Thursday via Twitter and said that he would try to describe what he could of the horrific scene as it unfolded.


He reported that the "a single shooter" shot through the windows of the building and entered.

"Gunman shot through the glass door to the office and opened fire on multiple employees. Can't say much more and don't want to declare anyone dead, but it's bad," he tweeted. "There is nothing more terrifying than hearing multiple people get shot while you're under your desk and then hear the gunman reload."

He "shot multiple people at my office, some of whom are dead," he said.

He later said, "I'm currently waiting to be interviewed by police, so I'm safe and no longer at the office."
