Congressman blames Trump for 'starting the fire and then bringing the firehose' on migrant children crisis
Rep. Eric Swalwell (MSNBC)

On CNN with Wolf Blitzer Wednesday, Eric Swalwell (D-CA) commended President Donald Trump for taking decisive action and stopping the separation of kids from their families at the border.

At the same time, Swalwell pointed out that the President hardly wins humanitarian of the year, given that the problem was of his own making.

"You know, this policy of breaking the bond between parents and children and putting children in cages is inhumane," Swalwell said. "The president was right to stop that policy," he added.

"But let's not give him a medal for starting the fire and then bringing the firehose" Swalwell said.

The congressman pointed out Americans must remain vigilant and not forget about the migrants at the border.

"The best thing we can do is to stay loud as American citizens, because I think that's what moved him to do the right thing," he said.
