Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, who regularly launches crazed, conspiratorial rants in defense of President Donald Trump, has been lobbying the president and his staff for the job of America's top law enforcement officer.
Politico reports that Pirro has "repeatedly told Trump’s aides and advisers over the last 18 months that she's interested in taking over" for Attorney General Jeff Sessions in running the Department of Justice.
The publication also reports that "Trump has dangled the possibility of giving her a top appointment" and that "during a November meeting in the Oval Office, the president raised the possibility of nominating Pirro to a federal judgeship." So far, however, the president has not seriously considered making her his attorney general.
Although the president regularly hires people because he likes the way they present themselves on Fox News, making Pirro attorney general would likely run into fierce opposition in the Senate, even though it's run by Republicans.
In addition to her aforementioned conspiracy rants, Pirro has also been caught on camera angrily flipping out on colleagues and has advocated for jailing Trump's political opponents.
