An environmental activist scaled the top of a freeway sign in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday morning, reported Fox 5 News.

Videos posted to social media show police responding to the shirtless man in an attempt to get him down. The man held signs that said "fight pollution not each other," and "give a hoot don't pollute."

His stunt shut down traffic for nearly 45 minutes. Police say he has been taken into custody.
