On Wednesday morning, Donald Trump tweeted about critics suffering from his favorite fake ailment, “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” when blasting him for his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Some people HATE the fact that I got along well with President Putin of Russia,” the president tweeted. “They would rather go to war than see this.”
“It’s called Trump Derangement Syndrome!” he added.
Some people HATE the fact that I got along well with President Putin of Russia. They would rather go to war than see this. It’s called Trump Derangement Syndrome!

As Media Matters’ John Whitehouse pointed out, that very same phrase was uttered by conservative commentator Tomi Lahren earlier in the morning on Fox & Friends.
“It’s complete Trump derangement syndrome,” Lahren told Trump’s favorite show at 6:30 Wednesday morning. “Do you want this president to wage war against Russia?”
Trump, Whitehouse added, appeared to be “just live tweeting” Fox & Friends
i'll spare everyone the full executive time summary, but yeah, trump is just live tweeting fox & friends this morning

You are so reckless to use war terms so loosely. Grow up! No man or woman wants war! No man or woman wants their love ones at risk, you Treasonous Weak President! @MSNBC @Morning_Joe @foxandfriends @FoxNews https://t.co/VMGUSZXxE6

The Trump post-Helsinki apology tour sure was brief.
Also, "The only alternatives are: suck up to Moscow or we go to war with Russia" is a classic, decades-old Kremlin propaganda trope.

You should be so proud that you got along with an autocratic thug who attacked your country, represses his citizens, invades a neighbor, and threatens journalists and opponents at home and board (who often end up dead). What a big boy you are! Have a cookie. https://t.co/WOHqoCFYub

Who's arguing for war? Seriously. This straw man is all over the place. The problem is that Putin suckered GW Bush and Obama and there's every reason in the world to believe he's playing you worse. It's called learning from experience, not TDS https://t.co/8DtnvGVqYl

This is a Kremlin talking point. The alternative to submitting to Putin isn't war. The opposite is true. If you don't stand up to Putin, he will threaten, attack, invade and occupy. https://t.co/FYch7Oqvv2

False Dilemma: Trump states US either needs to be a subservient satellite to Russia or we have nuclear war. That is insane. We can continue to be much stronger military, economy, with allies, and easily hold fading petro-states like Russia in check from a position of power. https://t.co/W9h04JU76A
