‘What kind of a lawyer would tape a client?’ Trump bitterly seethes after humiliating Cohen tape leaks to CNN

Published

on

President Donald Trump on Wednesday lashed out at one-time attorney and “fixer” Michael Cohen after a tape of the president discussing paying off a Playboy model leaked to CNN.

“What kind of a lawyer would tape a client?” the president wrote at the start of his tweet. “So sad!”

Trump then started posting conspiracy theories suggesting that Cohen had edited the recording to make him look bad.

“Why was the tape so abruptly terminated (cut) while I was presumably saying positive things?” Trump asked. “I hear there are other clients and many reporters that are taped – can this be so? Too bad!”

The recording revealed that Trump and Cohen in late 2016 discusses paying money to kill a story about Playboy model Karen McDougal, who claims to have had an affair with Trump. In the recording, Trump seems to be telling Cohen to pay in cash to squash the story, although the audio itself is not completely clear.
