Officials in Florida revoked the retirement benefits for a former correctional officer and Ku Klux Klan member convicted of plotting to kill a black former inmate, the Herald Tribune reports.

The Florida State Board of Administration upheld a recommendation that former Sergeant David Moran forfeit his benefits.

In August of 2017, Moran and Charles Thomas Newcomb were convicted in the murder plot.

WJXX-TV reported that the KKK murder plot was to kill the victim with an injection and then stick a fishing pole in his hand to stage the death as a drowning.

The plot fell apart after the men enlisted an FBI informant to assist with the attempted murder.
