A North Miami Beach Police officer has been arrested after she viciously beat a woman who is eight months pregnant.

NBC Miami reports that officer Ambar Pacheco, 26, admitted that she kicked the pregnant woman during a dispute in which the woman's boyfriend allegedly kicked Pacheco's sister in the face.

After seeing her own sister get hit, Pacheco told police that she "saw red and beat the sh*t out of" the pregnant woman, although Pacheco insisted that she was simply flying off in a rage and didn't realize whom she was kicking.

The pregnant woman was transported to a nearby hospital where she was treated and where she successfully delivered her baby, which had to be forced into delivery because Pacheco allegedly kicked the woman in the stomach.

Pacheco faces one charge of aggravated battery on a pregnant woman. She has also been relieved of duty pending an internal investigation.

The North Miami Beach Police Department says it has not yet determined whether Pacheco will be placed on paid leave during the investigation.
