White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Wednesday demanded that the media stop “going after” the Trump administration during her first press briefing in 16 days.
Sanders was asked if the White House had a response to the arrest of alleged Russian spy Maria Butina.
“Certainly we are looking at that,” she replied, before launching an attack on the media.
“There was massive media hysteria yesterday over confusion between that individual and a White House staffer, which I think shows, frankly, the outrageousness and the desire to find the negative in everything this president does.”
Sanders told the reporters to take a step back and “quit going after the Trump administration.”
The press secretary was referencing a false rumor that Butina was photographed in the White House.
