A statement from the Trump Organization Tuesday responded to the release of the tape of the president discussing the payout with his attorney Michael Cohen.

Legal analysts have brought up the mention of "cash" payments from President Donald Trump on the tape.

"The Trump Organization has told us in a statement tonight that when there is reference to the word cash on the tape, which in itself is money, as you've explained, the reference is not to bags of cash," said CNN reporter Kara Scannell. "It's not to green currency. What the Trump Organization is saying is this would have been like a cash payment, not a financing scheme, but it still would have been followed through the proper protocol of heavy lawyer documents, lawyers on both sides negotiating the terms of this, not that there were bags of cash walking around."

Lanny Davis, Michael Cohen's former lawyer explained in a CNN interview that it doesn't explain why another voice is heard talking about a "check."
