Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum was not thought to be able to beat Rep. Gwen Graham in the Democratic gubernatorial primary, but he mastered a huge upset Tuesday.
Graham was in the lead toward the end of the counting, but not by enough before Broward County numbers came in, which was expected to be a Gillum stronghold. Once numbers poured in from the key county, Gillum surged to a powerful lead.
Gillum scored a major endorsement from Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who helped his campaign.
