Andrew Gillum won the Florida Democratic primary. His win was unexpected but symbolize a change according to White House reporter April Ryan.

During CNN's Don Lemon Tuesday's night show, Ryan said that a 'quiet movement' is starting to make waves against President Donald Trump.

The correspondent for Urban Radio said that Gillum's win is significant not only because he is the first African American to win that seat, but because it signals a pivot in Florida's elections.

"The south shall rise again," Ryan said. "It's very interesting. In this Trump-era, this should not be ... you have so many minorities running for office."

She added, "The president is trying to hold on to his base, but there is this quiet movement of going to the polls and saying this is what we want. We want change too. So let's see who wins out in this fight. Once again, I find it so interesting how we talk about the South. Some have said the south shall rise again, but in a different way."
