George Santos was 'sweet and caring' — until he started stealing from everyone: ex-boyfriend

George Santos' ex-boyfriend is speaking out about the ongoing barrage of scandals against his former partner.
Pedro Vilarva, a man eight years Santos' junior who lived with him for a year and rebuffed multiple marriage proposals from him, gave an interview with CNN's Erin Burnett from São Paulo, Brazil on Thursday.
"Does this George Santos, the one that we are now all seeing, sound like the man that you dated and lived with?" asked Burnett.
"Not at all. Completely different person," said Vilarva. "It's just — at the beginning of the relationship, he was fine. He was so sweet, caring, he actually showed that he cared. But, later on when I started finding out the lies, I thought that was it, that it was my phone that he stole, I believe. And the jewelry as well, from a friend that used to live with us, and the tickets to Hawaii that he had purchased for us to go when he was planning the proposing for the third time as well. The engagement never happened. Nothing like that."
"When did you know that you couldn't trust him?" asked Burnett.
"Toward the end of the relationship," said Vilarva. "I started finding out about the lies in December and then it went on to February. Then, that is when I broke up with him and I went on my way. But then later on, we still had contact with each other because I found out about the lies, and we still kept in contact with each other. Just saying how are you, how is your mom and stuff, because when I found out she was sick I still cared about her. I went to visit her a couple times later on, but when I found out about the other stuff, I thought, what a psycho."
Asked why he believes Santos fabricated his life story, Vilarva said, "I don't know. I think he is just out of his mind and one lie led to another ... he always looked for fame and power. That's all he cared about. And he got it, he got the same thing in Congress, but he should not be there."
He added that he does not expect Santos to resign of his own free will, because "his ego's too big and too high."

All-caps Trump post claims he could get Putin and Zelensky to make a peace deal 'within 24 hours'

Former President Donald Trump on Thursday evening claimed he could end the war between Russian and Ukraine in a single day were he still president.
Writing on his Truth Social platform, the former president wrote an all-caps post declaring that he had an undisclosed plan to make Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky come to a peace deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who nearly a year ago launched a completely unprovoked invasion into his country.
"IF I WERE PRESIDENT, THE RUSSIA/UKRAINE WAR WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED, BUT EVEN NOW, IF PRESIDENT, I WOULD BE ABLE TO NEGOTIATE AN END TO THIS HORRIBLE AND RAPIDLY ESCALATING WAR WITHIN 24 HOURS," he wrote. "SUCH A TRAGIC WASTE OF HUMAN LIFE!!!"
Earlier in the day, Trump seemed to take a shot at the Biden administration and other American allies for providing Ukraine with high-powered tanks that the Ukrainians say are needed to drive Russian forces out of their country.
"FIRST COME THE TANKS, THEN COME THE NUKES," Trump said. "Get this crazy war ended, NOW. So easy to do!"
During his presidency, Trump withheld military aid from Ukraine while he pressured the country to publicly announce a corruption investigation into Joe Biden, who at the time was seen as the toughest general election candidate for Trump to beat in the 2020 election.
Trump also called Putin a "genius" at the start of the invasion, which has now dragged on for several months and has seen multiple Russian military setbacks that have forced its army to retreat from some territories it had seized.

Alex Murdaugh didn't cry when officers showed up to the murder scene of his family: prosecutors

Disgraced former high-powered South Carolina lawyer Alex Murdaugh showed no tears when police arrived at the murder scene of his family, prosecutors said at his trial on Thursday, according to The Daily Beast.
"The first prosecutorial witnesses in the highly anticipated murder trial, several Colleton County Sheriff’s Office first responders walked jurors through body-cam footage of the murder scene at the dog kennels at the Murdaugh estate. The public and media were only allowed to hear the footage on Thursday after both sides asked for only the jury to watch the video due to its graphic nature," reported Pilar Melendez. "As Sgt. Daniel Greene described the pools of blood 'as well as brain matter' around Paul and Maggie’s bodies, Murdaugh was seen at the defense table with his head down crying and shaking his head."
Murdaugh’s face, noted the report, "was notably flushed red and he wiped his tears throughout the morning testimony with a wadded-up tissue as jurors watched the footage, in which barking and howling from several dogs in the kennels could be heard in the background."
However, "Murdaugh’s emotional reaction on Thursday was notable, given it was starkly different than the reaction he displayed to Green and the other officers when he arrived at the crime scene after 10 p.m., about two hours after prosecutors allege the murders occurred," said the report. "'[Alex Murdaugh] was upset but I did not see any visible tears,' Green said on Thursday, adding that Murdaugh was 'nervous, anxious and upset.'"

Murdaugh, who comes from a powerful and well-connected family, already faced separate charges for fraud before the murder case, in an alleged scheme he arranged with a man to fake his shooting death and trigger a $10 million insurance payout to his surviving son.
At the beginning of the case, defense attorneys asked the judge not to bring up "blood spatter" evidence. Prosecutors have already introduced as-yet-unreleased evidence this week, including a blue raincoat Murdaugh wore to his parents' house just after the murders that was covered in gunshot residue.
