President Donald Trump opened a new line of attack against the Russia probe by accusing special counsel Robert Mueller of trying to interfere in the midterm elections.
The president continued lashing out against investigators who interviewed White House counsel Donald McGahn, although Trump remains apparently unable to correctly spell the synonym for attorney.
“Disgraced and discredited Bob Mueller and his whole group of Angry Democrat Thugs spent over 30 hours with the White House Councel, only with my approval, for purposes of transparency,” Trump tweeted. “Anybody needing that much time when they know there is no Russian Collusion is just someone looking for trouble.”
Trump accused the federal investigators of purposefully ruining lives without a legitimate purpose, and he suggested the probe was intended to give Democrats a congressional majority.
“They are enjoying ruining people’s lives and REFUSE to look at the real corruption on the Democrat side - the lies, the firings, the deleted Emails and soooo much more! Mueller’s Angry Dems are looking to impact the election,” Trump tweeted. “They are a National Disgrace!”
He followed up with a complaint that he was unable to interfere with the investigation without being accused of obstruction of justice.
"Where’s the Collusion?" Trump tweeted. "They made up a phony crime called Collusion, and when there was no Collusion they say there was Obstruction (of a phony crime that never existed). If you FIGHT BACK or say anything bad about the Rigged Witch Hunt, they scream Obstruction!"
