Security camera footage has captured two younger men savagely beating a 71-year-old Sikh man in the city of Manteca, California.
The Stockton Record reports that 71-year-old Sahib Singh this week was accosted by two assailants early on Monday morning in the area of Graystone Park.
One of the two men can be seen twice kicking the elderly man in the groin while the other man looks on. The two men then started to walk away from Singh -- but then one of the men ran back toward him, kicked him again, and spat at him.
The Manteca Police Department says that Singh was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for injuries. At this time, the department says it is investigating the incident as an attempted robbery, and that it has no evidence yet that it was a hate crime.
"The attacker is described as a clean-shaven black man in his 20′s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a skinny build and wore a green button-up shirt and jeans," the Stockton Record reports. "The second man also is described as being clean-shaved, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 140 pounds with black hair and wore a white shirt and jeans."
The incident in Manteca is the second beating of a Sikh man in California this week. On Sunday, 50-year-old Sikh man Surjit Malhi was beaten by two white men who told him to "go back" to his country, despite the fact that he's an American citizen.
